Building Bridges Board members can sponsor a project in the community they live in, collecting resources to benefit a local cause.

This project is an example of a board supervised local contribution by Building Bridges. A board member collaborated with College Park High School’s music program to create a video message in American Sign language. Only sign language, music and children’s art was to communicate a message, in honor of the fact that often children cannot speak about their abuse. This was coordinated with the National and County Child Abuse Prevention Month. In Contra Costa County, the video was aired on CCTV and was shown in city council meetings where proclamations were given to the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa.
Proclamations from mayors, governors and the President of the United States declare April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Click here for more information about local to National proclamations
