Building Bridges Sailing to Health Program promotes healthy people, communities, waterways and boats. We do this by recognizing and supporting non-profit organizations dedicated to sailing instruction and by providing opportunities and resources to sailors who want to own and care for their own boat.
Healthy People
Sailing promotes your aerobic fitness, cardio-vascular fitness, anaerobic capacity, muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and agility. Building Bridges recognizes and rewards the outstanding efforts of volunteers in non-profit sailing clubs who teach people to sail, because we believe it promotes a healthy way of life.
Healthy Communities
Sailing is a social sport that builds strong connections of trust and friendship between diverse people in our local communities. Sailors depend upon each other when out on the water. They need to work together as a team to sail the boat safely in many weather conditions. Building Bridges recognizes the many organizations and businesses that provide the services and products that sailors need for this great sport.
Healthy Boats
Owning, sailing and caring for a boat is rewarding. But, it can be challenging to the uninitiated. If a boat owner knows what to do and how to do it, they can save themselves many unnecessary expenses, as well as keep their boat operational for many years of sailing enjoyment.
Building Bridges supports and promotes organizations that educate new boat owners on the safe operation of their boats and environmentally safe disposal of waste.
Healthy Waterways
Our waterways provide beautiful scenery, transportation for vessels and sustenance for wildlife, fish, birds and marine mammals.
