Building Bridges About Us

Building Bridges Recognition Role

Non-profit, service and educational organizations need opportunities to recognize their volunteers, employees, sponsors and partners. This helps show their appreciation, build trust and give people an opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals.

From time to time, Building Bridges will organize a Recognition event, newpaper or yellow pages ads for the benefit of local non-profits and agencies. Building Bridges arranges these opportunities so that partners and recipients can participate without any cost to them, placing no demand on the resources each organization needs to continue with their projects, events and programs.

Building Bridges of Peace Awards

Building Bridges of Peace Awards Ceremony on May 29, 1996 was a Building Bridges model. A model is a one-time event, program or project that creates a template that can be duplicated in the future by Building Bridges and/or other organizations.

Karen E. Lile is our model creator. She acted in the following roles for this event:

  • Provider: Contacted the United States Postal Service and negotiated with them what they would provide for the event. Provided the Building Bridges of Peace Awards Plaques that were given to the recipients.
  • Representative: Represented the interests of all the partnerships participating by bringing in business and media sponsors.
  • Developer: Created the plan, after discussing with all parties their needs and interests.
  • Producer: Planned the program, invited the speakers and organized a production team to take care of the details of the event.
  • Speaker: Introduced speakers and gave closing remarks.
  • Host: Introduced people to each other and acted as hostess after the ceremony.

Board member Bernice Russ was co-creator of the Community Wall of Life project

Other credits can be seen in the program for the event.

Building Bridges Recognition Series

Building Bridges partnered with the Valley Yellow Pages and Contra Costa Times to create recognition ads for individuals and organizations. These ads helped make the public aware of the outstanding contributions of individuals in the community as well as the important programs and services provided by non-profit agencies in the local community.
