Content of City of Pleasant Hill Proclamation

NOW THEREFORE,

WHEREAS, one violent crime is committed in America every 17 secongs; and

WHEREAS, 43.6 million Americans are victimised in the United States each year; and

WHEREAS, our City continues its commitmentto crime prevention, violence prevention, and creating safe streets and environments; and

WHEREAS, our city suppports education and programs to stop crime and violence in its neighborhoods and to promote trust, understanding and cooperation among all people; and

WHEREAS, peace, safety and efficient operation of services within the City is benefitted by its cooperation with a vast support network of organizations, agencies and individuals; and

WHEREAS, the City appreciates the contributions of the many individuals, agencies and organizations who work to build safe, healthy communities.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAUL L. COOPER I, Mayor of the City of Pleasant Hill do hereby proclaim April 1996 as

"VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH"

in Pleasant Hill, and encourage all citizens to participate in the programs, events, business endeavors and/or any other activity which will promote our common goals of peaceful, safe communities.
