Dear Karen,
As we discussed in our meeting yesterday, the Juvenile Justice-Delinquency Prevention Commission for Contra Costa County will sponsor a Violence Prevention Month in April 1996.
We would like to have you serve as Regional Coordinator for this Public Awareness month.
As soon as I have selected one more Regional Coordinator, Commissioner Albert Walle, Commissioner Gerald Williams, Commissioner Winf red Warren, and I will meet with you, Regional Coordinator Jim Becker of Delta 20Q0 and a Regional Coordinator from PACT in your conference room at the Family and Community Services Building at 1300 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek. We would like to arrange this sub-committee meeting before November 7th. I will be calling you as soon as we have possible dates and times so that you coordinate it with the calendar for the conference room.
We would appreciate it if you could begin to identify the resource people in agencies, law enforcement, government, churches, schools, arts, performance and theatrical organizations and others willing to participate in this project.
We would also like you to provide a location for our two concept and organization meetings in January. We will provide and mail letters of invitation to all organizations that you and other regional coordinators identify. Delta 2000 will supply the facilitators for the brainstorming part of the agenda, including flip charts and an outline.
We would also like you to serve as the coordinator for television, radio, newspaper and other media publicity for April’s Violence Prevention Month and to coordinate the production of Public Service Announcements, television and radio programs and media articles about the participants in this awareness month and what they are doing to contribute to it.
Thank you so much for your participation. I look forward to working with you and appreciate your dedication to this cause.
Sincerely,
Marguerite Lawry, Commissioner
